Hair scrub to exfoliate the scalp

We know the scrub of the face or the scrub of the body. But few are those who know the hair scrub. A very often overlooked area. Yet this technique can avoid many hair problems. Not to mention all the benefits of a good exfoliation of the scalp.

What is a scalp exfoliation used for?

The hair scrub is a deep cleansing to cleanse the scalp. Sebum, sweat, styling products, dead cells, impurities accumulated on the head can forcefully clog pores and disrupt the sebaceous glands. This causes an overproduction of sebum, recurrent washing and ultimately scalp problems. Hence the interest of purifying the hair fiber.

The benefits of hair scrub

This hair treatment purifies the scalp by eliminating dandruff, dead skin, product residue, pollutants and all other impurities accumulated on the surface of the head.

Massaging the scalp with the exfoliating agent stimulates blood circulation by providing oxygen which promotes hair growth and shine. Circular movements also make it possible to take off the roots to have more volume and lightness.

Deep cleansing rebalances the PH and regulates sebum secretion, ideal for spacing out shampoos.

How to exfoliate your scalp?

Ingredients for making a hair scrub

4 tablespoons of aloe vera gel
3 tablespoons of sugar

Steps for making a hair scrub

Mix the ingredients in a bowl. Dampen your hair and apply the preparation to the roots. Massage the scalp in circular motions with the fingertips. Leave on for 5 minutes or rinse immediately with clear water. Then go through your usual washing routine.

The recipe can be modified at will with what you have in the cupboards. Instead of aloe vera gel you can use honey, agave syrup or other moisturizing agent. Otherwise you can opt for a nourishing agent such as vegetable oils (argan, olive, jojoba...).

Frequency of use

The hair scrub is suitable for all hair types and all scalps, even the most sensitive. I advise you to do it once a month. For oily hair it is possible to do this up to twice a month.
It is a treatment to be prepared on the spot to prevent the sugar from melting too quickly in the aloe vera gel.

My Colibri tips and recommendations

This treatment is not recommended in case of eczema, psoriasis, infections or irritations on the scalp. Opt for a mild shampoo, massaging gently.
