Sugar for a moisturizing hair mask

The products of our kitchens can be real allies for our hair. I've already told you about the oatmeal conditioner , the rice cream or the cornstarch neutral base ... real little hydration boosts.
Today, it is with a rather divisive ingredient in our kitchens that I will teach you how to take care of your manes, SUGAR!

Some put it in their shampoo to exfoliate the scalp and loosen the roots. But here I will rather tell you about its moisturizing action and you share an easy recipe to make after your shampoo.

Recipe for sugar syrup for hair

This treatment is suitable for all hair types. Ideal for dry, dull, coarse, tangled hair. Sugar syrup has a strong moisturizing power. It gives shine and suppleness to the hair. Thanks to this treatment, the hair is sheathed, the curls redesigned and the frizz disappear.

Ingredients and preparation steps

1 glass of sugar
1/2 glass of water
1/2 lemon

Pour the sugar, water and squeeze the lemon into a saucepan. Bring to the boil then stir occasionally for ten minutes. To know if the sugar syrup is ready, place a drop on a surface and let cool. Check if the texture is thick. If so, it's ready. Otherwise let take a few more minutes. The texture of the sugar syrup should be close to liquid honey. Pour the preparation into an airtight jar and leave to cool.

The benefits of sugar syrup for hair

3 simple ingredients that we all have at home. The sugar will act as a humectant. A humectant acts deep down like a sponge to attract and lock in moisture. Molecules present in humectants are able to absorb moisture from the air. Sugar can also be found in hair product compositions for its fixing and sheathing benefits. The lemon will give acidity to the preparation, prevent the sugar from hardening and illuminate the hair. And water, which of course is essential in a moisturizer recipe.

How to use sugar syrup for hair?

You can use the sugar syrup alone as a mask after your shampoo.
As a reminder, all masks and moisturizers are done after the shampoo. It is advisable to do one at least once a week.
The application of the sugar syrup is done on wet hair. Leave on for 30 minutes under a care cap then rinse with clear water and do your usual styling routine.

Alternatively, you can incorporate it into your moisturizing masks, your Ayurvedic powder treatments or your conditioner.
The application of the sugar syrup is simple and the rinsing too. Very soluble in water, it will not leave any residue in your hair or a sticky effect.

The advantage of sugar syrup is that the main ingredient, sugar, is accessible to everyone and inexpensive. In addition, the preparation keeps very well for several weeks in the fridge.

Precautions for preparing a homemade recipe

Disinfect utensils used for preparation. Always test products on a small area of the body.

My Colibri tips and recommendations

Be careful not to burn yourself with the preparation. Allow to cool well before first use.
