MAIZENA HAIR MASK - MOISTURIZING BASE TO CUSTOMIZE

Stop using occlusive styling products that form a surface varnish! Caring for your hair with food products at a lower cost is possible and completely natural. In view of the results you will not do without it...

WHAT IS CORNSTARCH?

Maizena is the trade name for the cornstarch that almost all of us have in our cupboards. A powder that we use to give a soft and light side to our cakes or as a binding agent in our sauces.

At the moment this ingredient lying around in the back of our cupboards is all the rage in recipes, not culinary but hair! Thanks to the "Do Brazil" bloggers.

WHAT DOES CORNSTARCH BRING TO HAIR?

The cornstarch hair cream that I present to you just below is a moisturizing base to personalize. Maizena is not strictly speaking a moisturizing agent like compote, honey, aloe vera, agave syrup... Its role in hair (or face) care is to help hydration to penetrate the hair fiber. Indeed, cornstarch is rich in humectants, molecules that attract water.

Cornstarch is rich in carbohydrates which brings softness and shine to the hair. It is not a greasy substance which makes it an ally for all types of hair, even the finest. The starch contained in cornstarch protects the hair by forming a protective layer against external aggressions. It also helps to coat the hair and give it volume, a real Botox treatment.

Among its other benefits, we can highlight its excellent detangling power and growth activator (if used once a week).

This treatment does not weigh down the hair. On the contrary, they become soft and supple.

UTENSILS TO PREPARE THE MAIZENA HAIR MASK

  • 1 airtight jar
  • a saucepan

INGREDIENTS TO PREPARE THE CORNFLOWER HAIR CREAM

  • 200ml of water

  • 1 heaped tablespoon of Maizena

STEP -BY-STEP STEPS TO PREPARE THE MAIZENA HAIR MASK

In a saucepan, pour the water and dissolve the cornflour in it. Once the mixture is homogeneous (without lumps), bring to a low heat, stirring constantly. The preparation begins to become opaque after a few minutes. Keep mixing with your spoon until the mixture gels. Once the cream has gelled, remove from heat and transfer to a pot. You get a smooth, slightly liquid and gelatinous cream. Do not let the mixture gel too much in order to avoid having a cream that is too compact and difficult to apply.

Allow to cool well before first use.

Voila, your moisturizing base is ready. Feel free to customize it to multiply the benefits and meet the specific needs of your hair.

STORAGE OF HOME MADE HAIR CORNER CREAM

The ideal is to use the mask instantly. Otherwise, as the preparation contains a lot of water, it can only be kept for a week in the refrigerator. In contact with the cold, the mask will become compact. So, on the day of use, heat it slightly to make it easy to apply.

WHY AND HOW TO USE THE MAIZENA HAIR MASK?

Use this cream on clean, towel-dried hair. Leave on for 30 minutes under a care cap like the one in my range.

Then untangle. This is an excellent homemade moisturizing mask. Rinse with lukewarm water, ending with a cold jet and you will see your hair bursting with shine! You can also use it in leave-in to define your curls.

This cornstarch cream is suitable for all hair types. It does not weigh down in any way. It is part of the family of moisturizing treatments to be done weekly. After several uses you will get real results. I remind you that moisturizing masks help fight foamy hair and frizz.

You can add 2 teaspoons of moisturizing active ingredients of your choice (ex: honey, agave syrup, vegetable glycerin, aloe vera...), 1 tablespoon of your usual conditioner, a few drops of oils essential oils or 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil to make it a nourishing treatment that maintains hydration. In short, everything is possible provided you do it in moderation so as not to weigh down the treatment.

Personally, I usually add 2 tsp of my oatmeal conditioner (recipe here ) and a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. Intense hydration is key!

Coucou !
